Dress and Grooming Standards

"Tradition with a Purpose..."

These school uniform and grooming standards were approved at the May Governing Board Meetings.)

The school uniform will be worn upon arrival to the school campus and until the student has departed from the campus.

The school uniform will be as follows:

UNIFORM TOPS

  • Daily Wear will be the official Red, White, or Blue Polo Shirts embroidered with school logo. School "Friday T-shirts" may be worn, but are not required, on Fridays only. American Leadership School students must wear (different) ALS uniform and Friday shirt. Shirts will be tucked in at all times. Only white undershirts will be allowed. Boys may also wear a white dress shirt with a patriotic red, white, or blue tie.

UNIFORM PANTS, SKIRTS, AND JUMPERS

  • All pants, jumpers, and skirts MUST BE DARK NAVY BLUE. Pants must be uniform or dress pants with no pockets (cargo) or (low riding) hip hugger pants. Skirt and jumper hems are to the middle of the kneecap. In the interest of modesty we encourage girls to wear shorts under their skirts or jumpers, however skorts are not allowed. Tight fitting/form fitting, stretch pants, or bagging/sagging is not allowed at Eagle's Aerie Schools. No frayed edges will be allowed. School navy blue belts and belt loops are required on all pants.  Clothes must be neat, clean, in good repair, and not overly wrinkled.

WINTER WEAR

  • SOLID RED, WHITE, OR DARK NAVY BLUE SWEAT SHIRTS, SWEATERS, OR JACKETS. Flag or stars-and-stripes patterns will also be allowed. These may be worn during class and while on campus. Any other winter wear may be worn to and from the campus, however they must be removed while in class and on campus. Applies to winter months only (Mid October through the end of March).

UNIFORM SHOES AND SOCKS

  • Only dress shoes, Western boots or clean gym shoes may be worn with the uniform. Gym shoes and shoe laces will be black, brown, dark navy, or white. Dress shoes or Western boots must be black, brown, dark navy, or white. NO sandals, open-toe, or open-back shoes will be allowed. Socks are to be worn at all times. Girls may wear solid white, dark navy, or black crew (not ankle) socks or tights. 7th grade and up girls may also wear neutral hose. Boys may wear solid white, black, or dark navy crew (not ankle) socks that extend over the ankle.

If there is any doubt in your mind DON'T wear it or buy it!

OTHER DRESS & GROOMING STANDARDS:

  1. ONLY School uniform hats may be worn at school (and then only when necessary outdoors or on special outdoor field trips and must be worn properly)

  2. It is expected that all students will come to school well groomed. Boys are to be clean-shaven, and hair length should be cut above the collar and not touching the ears. No tattoos are to be showing.

  3. Faddish hairstyles, haircuts (i.e. spiked (short or long), tails, mohawks, etc.), or coloring or bleaching is not allowed.

  4. Make up is allowed for girls in 7th grade and up only. Distracting make up, such as glitter, dark lipstick or eye shadow, loud or odd colored nail colors, is not allowed.

  5. Girls may only wear a single pair of simplistic stud earrings (worn in the ear lobe), one basic necklace, one bracelet or watch around the wrist, and one ring. Boy's jewelry is limited to a ring and a basic watch around the wrist.

School personnel have the discretion to make the final decisions on inappropriate clothing. Students who do not comply with the dress and grooming standards will be sent to the office. The following disciplinary actions will be taken when necessary:

  1. For minor infraction, the student will be sent home with a first time violation notice and expected to never repeat the infraction.
  2. Students will be sent home to change clothing or a change of clothing will be brought to school.

  3. Students will be required to sit in the office until appropriate uniform attire is worn.

  4. Subject to the school's discipline plan or suspension from school for continued disregard for the dress and/or grooming standards.

The Governing Board reserves the right to amend this policy, as other guidelines are required.
