Checking on your students work

February 13th, 2009 . by Mr. Whitlock

Each student in Mr. Whitlock’s class has a schedule of their academic workweek. To the class member it is called, “The Academic Plan”. The academic plan is an outline of what the student works on each day of the school week. For example: Mondays are the Reading or Writing days. Your students Academic Plan will reflect that they are reading or writing as well as a note as to what specifically they are reading or writing about. Each day after will reflect Math, Science, History, etc-days and times. Parents, please ask your student to see the Academic Plan from time to time.

Learning to fly

February 12th, 2009 . by Mr. Whitlock

With the second half of the year in full swing. The students of Mr. Whitlock’s class are developing the marvelous ability to direct their own educational activity-”They are learning to fly”. The greatest Men and Women of history have played the major role in their own education. It has been Mr. Whitlock’s privilege to mentor your students in that direction and watch as most of them do the difficult but necessary work of educating themselves. There is real genius in the classroom, and there is top-notch “schooling” happening, but more importantly, they are becoming educated-They are flying!
